Marilyn Rose (Carlson) Burns, 90, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Lawrence and Rose (Markle) Carlson, she has lived in Wilbraham since 1967. She worked part time as a secretary for the Wilbraham School Department in the Superintendent’s Office. She was also a home health aid and a teacher’s aid for many years. A longtime member of East Longmeadow United Methodist Church, she also sang in the choir. She belonged to United Methodist Women and Church Women United and was a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity with her husband Richard Burns, who predeceased her. She spent summers at the family cottage in Ocean Park, Maine where she sang in the local church choir. Marilyn is survived by her three children: Douglas Burns of Niskayuna, NY, Barbara Burns of Wilbraham and Thomas Burns of Tokyo, Japan, daughter in law Michele Pigliavento, granddaughter Mia Burns and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at East Longmeadow United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 24th at 2:00 pm. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity, 268 Cold Spring Avenue, West Springfield, MA 01089  or to  East Longmeadow United Methodist Church, 215 Somers Rd., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
