IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie
Arthur
January 18, 1933 – February 6, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life marked by strength, love, and sacrifice, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Marie Arthur.
Marie was born on January 18, 1933, in Trouin, Haiti, to her father, Anadin Arthur, and her mother, Melicide Paul. She built a legacy of resilience, devotion, and selflessness that will be cherished for generations to come. A talented seamstress, Marie’s hands worked magic. Not only in creating garments, but in holding her family together with unwavering dedication. One of her children’s most treasured memories is of her sewing their school uniforms, each stitch was a symbol of her sacrifice, care, and commitment. Her children were her top priority. She devoted her life to caring for them and took pride in always providing and being present for her family.
She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Luc Jean Jacques, who preceded her in death in 2003. Together, they built a family rooted in strength, perseverance, and dedication.
In 1999, Marie came to the United States. Throughout her years in America, she lived between Florida and Massachusetts with her children, always surrounded by their love and support. In her later years, she returned to Springfield, Massachusetts, where she lived with her daughter Michaelle, who cared for her with exceptional love and devotion. Marie was truly blessed with her children, each providing comfort, presence, and affection, ensuring she was surrounded by family until her final days.
Marie was a strong matriarch and the foundation of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, faith, and sacrifice. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she has ascended into heaven and is reunited with her loving husband.
She is survived by her eight devoted children: Carole Jerome, Guerlette Jean Jacques, Lusette Alexandre, Michaelle JJ Joseph, Yanick Jean Jacques, Oly Jean Jacques, Dalida Jean Jacques, and Lyse Jean Jacques.
Her beloved son-in-law: Garnilus Joseph.
Her cherished grandchildren: Liliane Francois, Johnny Jerome, Isabelle Joseph, Faith Alexandre, Dimitry Cayo, Socrate Joseph, Geneva Alexandre, Agathe Joseph, Gloria Cayo, Guy Arlens Jean Jacques, Samila Jean Pierre, Olinda Jean Jacques, Sergie Leveille, Mathew Leveille and Melissa Augustin.
