Margaret Patricia (Leahy) Shepard, born August 31, 1929 in Springfield passed away Thursday morning in the comfort of her home. She was the daughter of the late Johanna (O�Connor) and Patrick J. Leahy and granddaughter of Johanna Murphy of North Wilbraham. She graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1948 and worked at Mass Mutual before marrying her husband Francis S. Shepard in 1953. She raised her four children and worked up until her retirement at age 83 from the Lower Pioneer Valley of West Springfield. Margaret�s favorite things to do were knitting, sports and summers as the longest consecutive camper (45 years) at the Long Cove Campground in Narragansett, RI. She leaves her children, daughter, Annmarie Calvanese of Hampden, son, Thomas J. Shepard and Leah Binney of Hampden, son, Joseph S. Shepard of Springfield and daughter, Patricia A. Kurowski and husband Thomas of Palmer, her grandchildren, Christopher LaCamera, Anthony Calvanese, Joseph Calvanese and Jon-Thomas Kurowski as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Francis S. Shepard predeceased her on July 10, 1999. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held 10AM, Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut St., Springfield, followed by an 11AM Committal at MA Veteran�s Memorial Cemetery, Main St., Agawam.
