Margaret J. (Koziar) Bacon

Margaret Joan (Koziar) Bacon, 84, died peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Wampum, PA, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Anna (Gorzkowski) Koziar. She graduated from the former St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, received a Bachelor of Science degree from American International College, and earned a Master�s Degree from Cambridge College. She served proudly as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force Nurse Corp. in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse for Ludlow Hospital for 23 years, retiring as Director of Nursing. A longtime communicant of St. Cecilia�s Church, she was also a member of their Women�s Club. Margaret was the first woman in MA to join the Polish American Veterans� Club and belonged to the Wilbraham club for many years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Bacon in 1986. She is survived by her six children; Stephen Bacon and his wife Christine, Thomas Bacon and his wife Holly, Michael Bacon, Mark Bacon and his wife Gina, Beth Cebula and her husband Tom and Karen Jervah and her husband Jeff, three sisters; Carolyn White, Leona Parascenzo and Ann Koziar, and 11 cherished grandchildren; Scott, Stephanie, Matthew, Nicholas, Timothy, Anthony, Caroline, Kyle, Andrew, Joseph and Michael. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6th from 2:00 � 5:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from Wilbraham Funeral Home to a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01102.
