Marcia L. Willey

Former longtime Hampden resident, Marcia L. (Burleigh) Willey, 91, died peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Born in Springfield to the late William and Dorothy (Temple) Burleigh, Marcia graduated from Technical High School and immediately began working for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. She was a member of Hampden Federated Community Church and was active in the Yola Guild. Talented in handwork, she hooked rugs and hand knit sweaters, and she was well known for her Marcia Willey Teddy Bears. In addition to her parents, Marcia was also predeceased by her husband Carroll Willey and her sisters, Barbara Robbins and Betty Dunlea. She is survived by her three devoted sons; Marc Willey and his partner Danielle Harris of Lakewood, CA, Todd Willey of Stafford Springs, CT and Ryan Willey and his wife Sherri (McConnell) Willey of Amherst, three grandchildren; Gordon Willey (Sarah Groleau) Hannah Willey, Jeanne Sullivan, and great grandchildren; Tessa and Henry Willey and Rory Harrison. A private family burial will take place in Old Cemetery, Hampden. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
