Marcia (Spaulding) Shea, born in New Rochelle, NY to John D. Spaulding and Mary Eleanor (Mooney) Spaulding in 1936, passed away on August 9, 2024.
Marcia graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA in 1954 and Rosemont College in Philadelphia, PA in 1958. She received a master’s degree and a certificate of advanced graduate studies from Westfield State College in Westfield, MA. Upon graduation she entered the teaching profession. After several years of teaching in Springfield, she taught in Dallas, TX and Wellesley, MA then returned to Springfield to become a math supervisor and principal of the Warner Elementary School where she served with distinction until her retirement.
Marcia was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Fort Myers, FL where she served as lector and eucharistic minister. She was also a member of Saint Cecilia's Church in Wilbraham, MA.
Marcia considered her greatest gift to be her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband Francis Shea and together they enjoyed extensive travel and their residence in Fort Myers, FL. They were avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fans. She loved her grandchildren dearly and especially enjoyed their visits to Fort Myers where she took them shopping and took pride in dressing them well. She spoke lovingly of her parents and shared an unbreakable bond with her sisters who were foremost in her mind until her final days.
Marcia is survived by her nephew and stepson Paul Shea, his wife Jennifer, and her two grandchildren Keri Shea of Fort Washington, PA and Robert Shea of Windsor, CT, and her many nieces and nephews. She leaves a sister Barbara Brennan of Framingham, MA and was predeceased by her husband Francis Shea and her two sisters Elizabeth Shea and Eleanor Murphy.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who took care of Marcia at East Longmeadow Memory Care Assisted Living. Funeral services will be private. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
