Lois A. Pixley

May 14, 1928 — April 18, 2025

Lois Ann Pixley passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham on April 18, 2025 at the age of 96.
Lois was born on May 14, 1928 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Walter and Matilda Woolley. She was the middle child of three sisters who grew up together in Springfield. She graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1945. After graduation she worked as an operator at Mass Mutual before meeting her wonderful husband, John Pixley, at a dance as he arrived back from WWII. They married in 1950 and spent most of their lives living in Hampden, Massachusetts and raising three children.
Lois and John loved doing many things in life together, including vacationing with family during their annual camping trip to Hermit Island in Small Point, Maine. In 1988 they purchased their camp on Schoodic Lake in Brownville, Maine and they would spend a majority of the summer there each year, enjoying time on their pontoon boat, swimming, sitting by the campfire listening to the loons and even enjoying an occasional hot toddy on the deck.
Lois had many hobbies to fill her days such as playing all kinds of card games, writing daily in her diary, and swimming in her pool wearing her signature bathing cap. She was always humming a tune which was almost always a pop hit from the 40’s. She knew every lyric of every song from her youth. She was a proud long-standing member of the Hampden Federated Church. She always enjoyed her time being part of the flower committee and very much enjoyed helping decorate the church for holidays.
Lois is survived by daughter Lori and her husband Stephen Cummings of South Paris, Maine, son Dana Pixley and wife Ellen of Hampden, MA and son Noel and fiance’ Cindy Royer of Barton, VT. Lois had 9 grandchildren; Andrew Cummings and wife Heather of Dunbarton, NH, Tyler Cummings of Manchester, NH, Keith Pixley and wife Madison of Hampden, MA, Eliza Cummings and husband Matt Moulton of Buxton, ME, Kyle Pixley and wife Jen of Somers, CT, Leah Foard and husband William of Seattle, WA , Madeline Pixley of Brattleboro, VT, Emma Pixley of Dover, NH and Hallie Pixley of Burlington, VT. She also had 11 great grandchildren. She was a dedicated grandmother and was always referred to as “Bink.” She had an infectious, positive influence on all of them.
Lois is predeceased by her husband John Pixley, sister Shirley Stone and brother in law David Stone, sister Joan Little and brother in law Jim Little and niece Susan Wickwire.
The family will be having a private ceremony at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Hampden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hampden Federated Community Church, 590 Main Street, Hampden, MA 01036.
