Lionel A. Walker Jr.

Lionel Allen Walker, Jr., 102, died peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at home. Born in Springfield to the late Lionel A. and Mary (La Rue) Walker, he was a proud Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Haggard during WWII. Lionel was a self employed carpenter and built many houses in the Springfield area during his career. An antique collector and dealer, Lionel also loved roller dancing, synchronized swimming, gardening and spending time at Cape Cod beaches with his family. In addition to his parents, Lionel was also predeceased by his beloved wife Claire (Caron) Walker in 2008, his daughter Constance Lariviere in 2010 and his sister Lenore. He will be sadly missed by his children; Richard Walker of West Springfield, Diane Johnston and her husband Sam of Suffield, CT, Mark Walker and his wife Barbara of East Longmeadow, Elizabeth Aguayo of Springfield and Robert Walker of East Longmeadow, 25 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend Lionel’s Committal Service with Military Honors on Friday March 21st at 10:00 AM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
