Linda M. (Morton) Couture, 82, died peacefully at home on October 29, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born October 24, 1942, in Northampton, daughter of the late Doris (Loiselle) (Morton) O’Brien and John J. Morton. Her stepfather, Michael B. O’Brien, died in 1995. Linda lived in Northampton for 8 years, then moved to Haydenville, graduating from the former Williamsburg High School and the former Northampton Commercial College. In 1966, she married the love of her life Robert J. Couture and lived in West Springfield until 2009, when they moved to Wilbraham, where she was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. Employed as a secretary at various local companies, she retired in 1997, after 29 years of service at the former Northeast Utilities in West Springfield and Holyoke. Linda was predeceased by her husband Robert and her sister Carol Dufour. She leaves her sister Maureen A. (O’Brien) Lucey, brother James M. O’Brien and his wife Theresa and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may meet for Linda’s Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 6th at 10AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Springfield. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to the charity of one’s choice.
