Kenneth Ralph Houck passed peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the age of 93. He was the second son born in Gallapolis, Ohio to the late John and Vergie (Fellure) Houck, Sr. Ken was also predeceased by his four siblings; John, Glen and Farrell Houck and Betty (Houck) Hern, as well as his nephew Michael Houck.
His beloved wife/partner & soul mate Josephine (Federici) Houck predeceased him by six years.
Ken’s career in the United States Air Force spanned 25 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, serving throughout the world; Air University, Alabama, Lockbourne AFB, Ohio, Japan during the Korean War, Goose Bay CFB Labrador, Canada, Templehoff AFB Berlin, Germany and Andrews AFB in Maryland.
This devotion earned recognition of the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service at Strategic Air Command, 8th A.F. Westover, Chicopee, MA. Once Kenneth settled into retirement, he was an active member on the Planning & Zoning boards in their hometown of Tolland, CT. He is most fondly remembered as the dependable school bus driver for many smiling, Tolland children. Ken’s sincere gratitude for all God’s gifts, and his loving smile, will forever be in our hearts. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Cynthia Nelson (Eric) of East Longmeadow, Clorinda Sticco of Agawam, Lisa Hutter (Michael) of Wilbraham, Mona Lynne (Houck) Phillips (William) of Bidwell, OH, Brian Hern and Jeana Mitchell (Shad), both of Grove City, OH, Mark & Leonard Federici of New Jersey, Maria & Lance Patania, Cheryl (Houck) Smith of Mesa, AZ, as well as many great nieces and one great nephew. Ken’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 11:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield, MA. An hour of visitation will precede the Service from 10-11AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners’ Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
