Karnig Zeroogian, 85, passed away on May 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Indian Orchard, MA, to the late Merigan and Noyemzar Zeroogian, he lived in Hampden for the past 50 Years. He was a master stone and brick mason who worked on many homes in Springfield and surrounding towns. Karnig was one of the original stewards of St. John the Devine Armenian Church which later was renamed St. Mark Armenian Church in Springfield. A lifetime member, he served on the parish council, building committee, spearheaded oriental rug sales and chaired many picnics. Karnig worked tirelessly as chairperson of the maintenance committee. He was also a member of the Indian Orchard Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Vartan. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce (Ekmalian) Zeroogian; devoted children Lynn Diefenderfer and her husband Dale of Wilbraham, and Dr. John Zeroogian and his wife Sonia of Longmeadow; cherished grandchildren Matthew, Stephen, Ani Diefenderfer and Annabelle and Alex Zeroogian; brother Harry Zeroogian of Longmeadow and many nieces and nephews. Karnig was predeceased by his loving daughter, Tamara, in 2008 as well as his sister, Varvar Papelian and brother, Vartan. Karnig�s Requiem Service will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Mark Armenian Church. Visitation will precede the Service on Monday from 8:30 � 10:00 am at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will follow�in St. Mary�s Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Armenian Church, 2427 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield.
