East Longmeadow – Judson F. “Jud” Pooler passed away on November 14 at his East Longmeadow home. He was 89 years old. Born in Watertown, NY on April 30, 1936, he was the only child of Jay C. and Gladys (Guzewich) Pooler.
Jud served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Kodak Company in Rochester, NY, Hood Milk and worked for many years with Fontaine Brothers as a property manager. He lived in Hilton, NY before settling in East Longmeadow with his wife Marilyn 56 years ago.
Judson was active in various community theater groups including the Majestic Theater in West Springfield. He gave a compelling performance as the lead role of Norman in “On Golden Pond”. He was active in the Lions Club for nearly 50 years, and served as King Lion for several of those years. He was an active board member of the Greenlawn Cemetery Association, serving as the treasurer for several years. Jud was a born craftsman over the years he used his natural building and design skills in many complicated home improvement projects. He took great pride and used his ingenuity in keeping the family home and yard in pristine condition.
Judson will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years Marilyn (Smith) Pooler, and their loving children: Mark Pooler of Salem, MA, Ellen Lessard of Sanbornton, NH, Terri Walsh and her husband Matthew of Amesbury, MA, Sharon Driscoll and her husband Bill of Salem MA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Madeline, Emmett and Lily. There will be a memorial service at 10 AM on Friday, November 21 at Wilbraham Funeral home followed by a graveside committal service at Greenlawn Cemetery in East Longmeadow.
