Joy Chapman (Bullock) Hibsher died peacefully on Sunday, the 23rd of February, 2025 in Falmouth, MA. Joy was born March 16, 1942 in Boston, MA to the late Thelma Chapman and Elbert Chapman. She graduated from Stoneham High School, University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Springfield College. Joy was the founder and President of Leslie Educational Alternatives, Inc., a human services organization, from 1984 until her retirement in 2004. During her career, she belonged to Human Service Forum, Western Mass Service Providers and Compassionate Friends. After retiring, Joy worked as a substitute teacher in Belchertown, MA. She also volunteered at Top Floor Learning, Palmer, MA, Evangel Food Pantry, Wilbraham, MA, My Father’s House, Thorndike, MA and Veterans Empowerment Center, Springfield, MA. She was a member of Bethlehem Church, Hampden, MA.
Joy was predeceased by her husband Paul, a brother, Douglas Chapman, and two daughters, Kristen Kim and Leslie Robin Bullock. She is survived by her brother Daniel Chapman and his wife Wendy, sister-in-law Nancy Chapman, her son Chip Bullock and wife Jennifer of Hampden, MA and her daughter Maura Bullock and husband John McSherry of Falmouth, MA. She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren, Kristina Bullock, Ryan Bullock and Sophie McSherry as well as three stepchildren, David and Thomas Hibsher and Sharon (Leon) Comstock. Joy was a beacon of kindness and generosity. She lived her life with strength, caring and service to others. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire the many lives she touched throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Road, Wilbraham, MA followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Church, 123 Allen Street, Hampden, MA.
