Obituary
Joseph Wasseh Teh, 58, passed away unexpectedly at Mt. Marie Health Care Center due to complications from diabetes. Joseph was born to tell a story in River Gee County of Liberia in West Africa on September 29, 1963. His story began with his parents, Jimmie and Mabel (Sinue) Teh raising a young boy as an explorer and detailer of his surroundings. He was a lifetime journalist and humanitarian who reported on Liberia, its real-life struggles and civil strife. He was a veteran Liberian journalist, editor working with Star Radio, New Liberian Newspaper which was published by the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism and with a 37- year career he became the Features Editor. He later became news editor of the Liberia News Agency, New Democrat Newspaper and then with Star Radio. He immigrated to the U.S. in 2001 where he studied social work at Springfield College where he earned his Bachelors degree. He was a member of the Press Union in Liberia, the Association of Liberian Journalist in the Americas and a member of Evangel Assembly in Wilbraham. His story is full of lifelong lessons and teachings but most important are his family members: his beloved wife of 35 years, Jemima (Dunah) Teh; his mother; Mabel Teh of Liberia; his children; Lovetta, Albert, Kelvin, Bill, Josh, Amelia and Jaytoe, as well as a host of foster children; 15 grandchildren and his uncle, Moses Sinue who invited Joseph to immigrate to the U.S. He is also survived by many extended family members, friends and colleagues. His family welcomes everyone to visit on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4-7PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Road, Wilbraham to share stories and gather together to celebrate Joseph’s life and family journey. His funeral will begin at 8:45AM on Friday, March 4, 2022 from the funeral home and followed by a service at 10AM in Evangel Assembly, 348 Stony Hill Rd., Wilbraham and conclude with the burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Spfld.
