Wilbraham - Jasper C. Sloat, Jr. passed away on November 10 in Wilbraham. He was 93 years old. Born in Springfield on January 25,1932, one of seven children to the late Jasper C. and Lena (Ladue) Sloat, Sr. Jasper was a Korean War era veteran of the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He was a Machine Operator of 38 years for Titeflex, proudly producing high-tech hoses, also worked facilities maintenance for the Wilbraham United Church. He and his wife Angelina lived in Ludlow before settling in Wilbraham 60 years ago and raising their family.
Jasper enjoyed working outside, including tending the family yard. He liked music, especially classic American artists like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. He loved spending time outdoors with his grandchildren visiting Forest Park or apple picking and enjoyed taking family picnic trips to the Quabbin. While in the USAF he was stationed in New Mexico which served as his home base for many trips in the US and Mexico on his classic Harley Davidson.
Jasper was predeceased by his loving wife Angelina (Severino) in 2020, as well as their daughter Joanne in 1963, son Dan in 2019, and his sister Mildred Gregoire. He will be missed by his devoted daughters Rosanna (Mike) Tetreault of Springfield, Diane (Steve) Fryer of Springfield, and Lisa (Troy) Rubner of Wilbraham; grandchildren Nicole, Michael, Alicia, Shawn and Amanda; great-grandchildren Charlotte, Noah and Alianna; and sisters Barbara Yelle, Joan Harris, Elaine (Bill) Fumo, Jane Killip and his brother Robert (Laura) Sloat and many nieces and nephews. We would also like to recognize his care giver, Mary Guzman for many devoted years.
There will be a wake at WILBRAHAM FUNERAL HOME 4-7pm on Sunday November 16, 2025, and a committal service will be at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 10am on Monday November 17, 2025. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Jasper’s name to a charity of your choice.
