John Philip Cuddy

September 28, 1931 — August 12, 2016

John P. Cuddy, 84, died peacefully with his wife by his side on Friday, August 12, 2016, at home. Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Hennessey) Cuddy. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, John was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army Reserves until his retirement in 1979. He earned an Associate�s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Lowell Tech and worked as a Planning Manager for Verizon Phone Co. until his retirement in 1990. John was an active communicant at St. Cecilia�s Church. He will be sadly missed by his wife Nancy A. (Viner) Cuddy, his son Martin Cuddy and his wife Karen of Mystic, CT, daughters; Catherine Retzbach and her husband Edward of Sewell, NJ, Denise Tomasi of Fremont, NH, Tammy Somerville and her husband Timothy Ross of Charlotte, NC and Lisa Roy and her husband Paul of Wilbraham, brothers; Joseph Cuddy of Hampton Beach, NH and Gerald Cuddy of Salem, NH, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his first wife Barbara (Leyden) Cuddy and brothers William and James Cuddy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16th from 4:00 � 7:00pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA 01095. Funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 am from Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by Mass at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sister Caritas Cancer Center, Mercy Medical Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or St. Cecilia�s HOPE Ministries, 42 Main St., Wilbraham.
