Obituary
John C. Cobbs, Jr., 84, passed away Jan. 17, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born Feb. 20, 1936 to the late John C. Cobbs, Sr., and Isabel (Angus) Cobbs. John was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy and the University of Tennessee, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He proudly served in the US Air Force and his life’s work was in the insurance business. John was an honest, charismatic, generous man with a quick wit. He was an entertaining storyteller and a passionate Philadelphia Phillies fan, who enjoyed playing Blackjack at the casino, his card group, cribbage, golf, and his Jack Daniels. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John was a warm, caring husband, Dad, and PaPa. He leaves, and will be greatly missed, by his devoted wife of 61 years, Betsy (Ames) Cobbs, daughters: LeAnne Marquis and husband Andy of Conesus, NY, and Suerae Stein of Keene, NH, his grandchildren: Nicholas and Jonathan Marquis and Benjamin and Grace Stein. John also leaves his sister Rosalie White of FL, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings: Shirley Zeltner, Dorothy Page, Barbara Dunn, and Richard Cobbs. Burial will be private and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to the St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326, or to the charity of one’s choice.
