Obituary
Longtime Springfield resident Joanne Ruth Gumlaw died peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at home. Daughter of the late Roy and Ruth (Fackenthall) Smelcer, she worked at Monarch Life Insurance Co. for many years. Joanne was a faithful member of Foster Memorial Church in Springfield. She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 67 years Joseph I. Gumlaw, their four children: Kim and his wife Jamie, Roy and his wife Cheryl, Allan and his wife Connie and Katherine and her husband Barry, all of Springfield, brother Dale Smelcer of WA, sister Lois Neil of Idaho, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Joanne’s Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 11:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will precede the Service from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foster Memorial Church, 1791 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield, MA 01119.
