On Friday, January 20, 2017, Joanne (Gareau) Metzler passed quietly into the hands of the Lord. She was born on August 7, 1932 to the late George and Anna Gareau. She lived many years in Huntington, MA, attending school in Woronoco, MA and later graduated from the old Westfield High School. She worked for the former Strathmore Paper Company until retirement. She started at Mill #2 in Woronoco, then moved to the Westfield plant as a paper sorter. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Matthew Metzler, two daughters; Kathleen Hungerford and Leann Goulet, son in law William Churchill with whom she shared a special bond. She also leaves her grandchildren; Amber Wallace and her husband Joseph, who opened their home to help her in her later years, Benjamin Goulet, Jessica, Nathan and Erin Churchill, beloved great grandchildren; Brock, Tryston and Amelia Wallace and Lexi Stosz, step son; Paul Metzler as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joanne was also predeceased by her oldest daughter Patricia Churchill, her oldest grandson Elijah Churchill, brothers Richard and Bernard Gareau and former husbands Robert Hungerford and Homer Sullivan. Joanne�s Funeral Service will be Thursday at 12:00 Noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. An hour of visitation will precede the Service on Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
