Longtime Hampden resident Joan C. Day, 89, died peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026 at Vantage at Hampden. Born in Holyoke to the late George and Josephine (Bartos) Prunier, she was a graduate of St. Jerome’s High School. Joan worked as a secretary at Mercy Hospital for over 18 years. She was a faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow and she was a dedicated volunteer at the Hampden Senior Center and the former Wingate at East Longmeadow. In addition to her parents, Joan was also predeceased by her husband Francis Joseph Day and her brother Robert Prunier. She is survived by her three sons; Steven F. Day of Hampden, Wayne M. Day and his wife Joanne of Ludlow and Brian R. Day of Hampden, daughter in law Laurie Day, five grandchildren; Jenna, Shealah, Corey, Michael and Thomas and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9th from 4-7 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Joan’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by burial in Old Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hampden Senior Center, 104 Allen St., Hampden, MA 01036.
