Jennifer E. Schimmel

Jennifer Elizabeth Schimmel (46) of Enfield, passed away on January 7 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was born in Ware, MA on May 3, 1977 and was an Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) survivor. She was predeceased by her father Harry Schimmel, her mother Louise (Richard) Gendreau and her stepfather Curtis Gendreau.
Jenn was a loving and devoted mother to her son Jackson. She loved to travel, both for leisure and for Habitat for Humanity having taken numerous mission trips to Guatemala to help build homes for those in need. She loved music and meeting new people, easily becoming friends with so many.
Jenn graduated from Ludlow High School in 1995, obtained her Bachelor of the Arts degree from the North Adams State College where she also became a Alpha Sigma Alpha lifetime member before going on to earn a master’s degree in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Hartford.
Professionally, Jenn dedicated her talents to non-profit organizations, holding the position of Executive Director of the Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity from 2007-2019. More recently, she was the Chief Business Development Officer at Betts Plumbing and Heating Supply and had also been consulting for other non-profits. In the past, she held various support roles with organizations such as Hartford Seminary, Wadsworth Atheneum, and Shakespeare & Company.
Jenn is survived by her son, Jackson Stanley, her sister Cherylee (Brian) Hagge of Southport NC, niece Amanda (Tyler) Evans, and nephew Ryan Royer and his fiancé Julie Locke. She also leaves behind her tribe of many close friends.
A Celebration of Jenn’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 4:00 PM at the County Club of Wilbraham, 859 Stony Hill Rd., Wilbraham, MA. Come and share your memories of Jenn. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
