Jeffrey P. Green, Sr., 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at Baystate Medical Center. Jeff was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Robert and Jeannette “Ginger” Sullivan. At 1 year old, his father was killed in Normandy, during World War II and buried overseas in Holland. When Jeff was four, his mom married Harold Green, who adopted Jeff. His love of horses started at 9 years old, when his parents got him a pony for the summer and he rode on the beaches of Misquamicut.
Jeff retired from Hampden Engineering after many years of service. He was prominent in the horse world, earning a “Register of Merit” with his palomino Leotion. Jeff was always ready to help “horse people” or kids get started in horsemanship and 4H. Like Terry Ferrara, who he helped start showing horses. Also, his younger cousin Maureen (Flynn) Strycharz got a pony from Jeff every summer and he would take her trail riding and to horse sales.
Jeff had a quick wit and “Irishy” humor that always made everyone laugh. He was a dog lover and had many over the years; Pete, Weaze, Kit and Frankie, to name a few. An avid NASCAR fan, Jeff also loved Stafford Motor Speedway, friendships and family.
Jeff was predeceased by his first wife Laura Paul and his son Jeffrey P. Green, Jr. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of over 30 years Terry Worthley, son Rick and his wife Marcia of Hampden, brother Buddy Green of Hampden, sister Carole Carey and her husband Jim, six grandchildren; Lindsay, Kelsey, Kylee, Anthony Michael and Allie and four great grandchildren; Rayna Helen, Ella Mae, Wyatt Michael and Zaden. Jeff also leaves dear friends April and Pete Laviolette of NC, Becky Schofield of Monson, Larry Keyes of Wales, Lee Hylton of Springfield, the entire Flynn family of Hampden and his cousins Maureen Strycharz and Colleen Westberg and her husband Paul.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th from 2-4PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Jeff will be interred, next to his wife Lori, on Friday at 12:00 Noon in Old Cemetery, Chapin Rd. in Hampden.
Jeff’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Baystate Medical Center ICU for the exceptional care they provided to Jeff.
