James R. Zuccala, 73, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield to the late Joseph and Jeanne (Carmel) Zuccala.
James is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Marissa and Patrick Cagan of Blandford, MA, brothers; Jon and Joseph Zuccala; sisters, Patti Davis and Laura Povanda; best friend and brother-in-law Dennis Davis; step-brother Richard Peterson of Chicopee, MA; and ex-wife Michelle Zuccala.
A lifelong Springfield resident, he was a self-employed construction contractor. James loved gardening, cooking, and music. He was a keen observer of the world around him and was always interested in learning how things worked. He was the best source of information if you wanted to know about any subject. He had a wicked sense of humor and a genuine laugh. He will be dearly missed.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Many thanks to the staff at American Renal Associates in Ludlow, MA who treated him like family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
