Obituary
James D. Adam, 87, died peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022, at home. Born in Cheshire, CT to the late Leonard and Julie (Reidiger) Adam, he was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of Stafford High School, Hartford State Technical School (PRINCE TECH), and a member & Past President of the Lions Club of Stafford, CT. He was also a member of the Manchester Ski Club Upon moving to Wilbraham, he joined the Wilbraham Country Club and took up golf at age 50, with 2 Hole in One Rounds with his golf buddies known as “CHAP.” He was a member of the Wilbraham Hampden Rotary Club, Past President and a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. Jim was a sales consultant in the moving and transportation industry, working for United Van Lines Local Agencies, shipping High Value Specialty Commodities. Jim was predeceased by his first wife Gretchen Adam and his brother Leonard Adam. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra (Smith) Thorne, his three sons; James Adam and his wife Kathy of Chicopee, Richard Adam and his wife Nancy of Port St. Lucie, FL and Robert Adam and his wife Stacey of Florence, MA, his granddaughter Beth Adam Lewis and her husband Carl, sister Carol Balderston and husband Bruce of Sanford, TX, sister in law Anne Adam of West Hartford, and many nieces and nephews, as well as an extended family, Karen Thorne Downs and her husband Bill and family, with many friends and neighbors. Family and friends may gather for visitation on Monday, August 8th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will conclude with a brief Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 PM. A private Committal with Military Honors will be held in MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
