Herbert A. Everett, Jr.

June 30, 1943 — January 6, 2025

Herbert A. Everett from Longmeadow, formerly of Granby, MA passed away peacefully on January 6th. Herb was born in Ludlow MA, to the late Viola Chaffee Everett and Herbert A. Everett, Sr. and was raised by his step mother Catherine Everett, after his mother’s death. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1961. Herb worked at Bay State Gas Company for 35 years before retiring to open up his own dog training business. He was very involved in the dog show world, showing dogs and judging dog shows his entire adult life and owned several dogs himself over the years. His all-time favorite dogs were his three Belgain Malinois; Sassy, Striker, Little Bit and Bouvier Des Flandres named Gotcha. He was an avid candle pin bowler and enjoyed ten pin bowling for many years with his two children. Herb also enjoyed spending many summer vacations at Cape Cod with his children. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren whenever he could. Herb was a second dad to them when their dad passed away. He is predeceased by his parents, step mother, son Jonathon Everett, sister Hilda Rooney, sister Margaret “Peggy” Reed and his four favorite dogs; Sassy, Striker, Little Bit and Gotcha. He leaves his daughter Suzanne Croteau and her husband George of Ludlow and daughter in-law Tammy Everett of Springfield. Herb also leaves his two granddaughters; Alyson and Madyson Everett of Springfield, his bother George Everett of Feeding Hills and his brother William Everett and wife Carolyn from Warrenton, VA as well as many nieces and nephews. There will be a Graveside Service on January 15 at 11am at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA. Wilbraham Funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of your choice or Legacy Lifecare Hospice, 770 Converse Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
