Gloria E. (Gerrard) Tomassetti, 94, died peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, MI, she was daughter of the late Dr. Henry C. and Mary (Pezzini) Gerrard and was a graduate of Springfield High School of Commerce. Gloria filled many roles in the workplace, always advancing her career due to her initiative-taking work ethic, goal driven performance, and professional reliability. At just 17, Gloria worked as a secretary in a busy Realty office later leaving that job to become an Administrative Secretary for the Springfield Ordinance for more than 7 years. She left the government to become a confidential secretary for the president of Kestral Corporation, accountable for responding to all domestic and foreign plastic manufacturers mail inquiries to the corporation along with other office duties. She then accepted the position of Office Manager for Robinson & Dibble, a law firm for Union Federal Savings where she became proficient at real estate closings. In 1970, she went to work for the Asst. Principal at Minnechaug Regional High School for nearly 5 years and then began an expansive career working for the U.S. Postal Service, ascending, in a noticeably brief time, to Senior Procurement Manager, retiring after 20 years of service.
Gloria was an avid Red Sox fan for over 75 years, cheered for days after two World Championships, would watch the games every day or night when on television and you could only call her during commercial break. She was a voracious reader, read a book or two per week and loved to garden, growing beautiful roses, peonies, and iris plants. She took pride in her yard which always looked stunning. Most of all, Gloria treasured her family, was always concerned for their well-being and time spent with her children, grandson Nick, and son-in-law David whether traveling, enjoying alfresco dining on her deck with a glass of wine or simply chatting about day-to-day affairs provided many happy times for all.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husbands; Robert McGregor in 1985 and Joseph Tomassetti in 2001, her two beloved sisters, Mary Ball and Marjorie Gerrard. She will be sadly missed by her devoted children; Claire Clini and her husband David and William H. McGregor, all of Wilbraham, cherished grandson Nicolas Clini and his wife Amy, adored great grandsons; Thomas J. Clini and Patrick J. Clini as well as many special nieces and friends.
Family and friends may gather for Gloria’s Funeral Mass on Friday, June 26th at 11AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Gloria’s family will greet guests in the Rotunda of the church from 10:30AM until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1640, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
