George Megas, 84, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2016 at Holyoke Soldier�s Home. Born in Springfield to the late Apostolos and Vasiliky (Matsakis) Megas, he graduated from the former Wilbraham Academy and studied engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering. George honorably served as an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He held a commercial pilot license and enjoyed flying, camping and travelling. In partnership with his cousins, he was the owner and operator of the former Megan�s Cafe in Springfield. He also worked for Hamilton Standard for many years. George was a member of St. Luke�s Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Eugenia (Romanos) Megas, and was the proud father of Mark P. Megas of Wilbraham and daughter Anita Megas and her husband Steven Robinson of Lexington Park, MD. In accordance with George�s wishes, private services were held at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church and burial with Military Honors was in MA Veterans� Cemetery, Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. George�s family would like to thank the Holyoke Soldier�s Home for their wonderful, loving care.
