Obituary
Gail E. (Silver) Meron, 81, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at home. Born in Springfield to the late Foster and Abia (Stoddard) Silver, she was a lifelong East Longmeadow resident. She received an Associate’s Degree from Green Mountain College in Vermont. She worked for many years as Assistant Manager at Steiger’s in the Longmeadow Shops and Cherry & Webb before becoming Store Manager at the former Cock O’ the Walk in the Longmeadow Shops. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow. Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon E. Meron in 2017. She is survived by her two daughters Susan Essrig of Westminster, VT and Cindy Porway and her husband Dr. Mark Porway of East Longmeadow, three grandchildren; Travis and Derek Borges of Belmont, NH and Katie Stone of Baltimore, MD and step granddaughter Ashley Essrig of Laconia, NH. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Gail’s Funeral Service will be Saturday at 12:00 Noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by burial in Baptist Village Cemetery, East Longmeadow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of MA, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062 or to Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101-6307.
