Gaetana (Nasti) Venezia, 78 of Forest Park passed away Tuesday November 7,2023 at Baystate Medical Center with her children by her side. She was born in Bracigliano, Italy on November 17, 1944 the eldest of 7 children to the late Ermelinda (Bocchino) and Gabriel Nasti. She was a communicant of Holy Name Church in Springfield. She worked for many years as a cook for the Springfield Public Schools. Gaetana will be remembered for her immense generosity whether a food filled container to take home or flowers and vegetables from her beautiful gardens. Friends of her children and grandchildren instantly became her children and grandchildren. As a young bride and new mother, she immigrated to the U.S. in November of 1969 where she worked tirelessly to help provide for her family. She was a devoted wife for 42 years to Costantino Venezia who passed away in December of 2008. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Giovanni “John” Venezia of Springfield Lucia Ruel of Westfield, Costantino Gabriel Venezia of Springfield. Three grandchildren Antonio Graziano, Sarah Ruel and Joseph Ruel. Loving sister to Francisco (Rosa) Salvatore (Adelfina) Silvio (Anna) Annamaria (Franco) Filomena (Girdo). She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Gaetana was predeceased by her brother Antonio Nasti (Rosa) in Sicily in August 2018. The family would like to give extra thanks and acknowledgment to Patty Cote for all her love, compassion, and friendship to our mother. The family would also like to give thanks to the girls from Excel Nursing, Carmen, Shannon, and Diane. The family asks that everyone who knew our mother to enjoy every meal from the simplest of snacks to the grandest of banquets because cooking was her way of showing her love. There will be calling hours Saturday from 8:30 am – 10:30 am at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Road, Wilbraham followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am at Holy Name Church in Springfield. There will be an entombment at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations in Gaetana’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. For more information please visit
