Frances G. Alberici, 87, of Cary, NC, passed away on December 21, 2024. Born on April 5, 1937, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was lovingly known as Mikki and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Lebel) Von Flatern. A proud High School of Commerce graduate, Mikki pursued further education at several local colleges, including Gaugh School of Business, STCC, and AIC. She was a longtime resident of Wilbraham and a member of St. Cecilia Church since its inception in 1951.
Mikki worked as a secretary for American Bosch in Springfield, MA, before becoming a mother of three. Later, she worked as a middle school crossing guard and real estate agent for Landry, Lyons & White Co. After retiring, she devoted herself to caring for her grandchildren, serving as a page at the Wilbraham Public Library, and working the polls in Wilbraham.
Mikki’s passions included reading and music, and she sang with various local choirs, including the Springfield Symphony Chorus. She loved opera and the Boston Pops and often took trips to New York City to visit theaters and museums, usually traveling by Amtrak. She also enjoyed caring for the animals that flocked to her yard no matter where she lived, most especially bluebirds and bunnies.
Mikki was a devoted wife to Jim Alberici and mother to their three children: Peter and his wife Maria of Longmeadow, MA; Michael and his wife Pamela of Concord, NH; and Regina Kaiser and her husband William of Cary, North Carolina. She was a proud grandmother, known as Mimi, to Gianna, Jack, Zoe, Zan, and Will. She also adored her nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to her as Auntie.
She was preceded in death by siblings Leonard Von Flatern of Hatfield, MA; Ronald Von Flatern of Wilbraham; and Eileen Sheehan of Granby, MA.
Family and friends may meet for Mikki’s Funeral Mass on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia Church, Wilbraham. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilbraham Funeral Home.
