It is with very heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Florence Filomena Rondinelli (nee Panetta) on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born and raised in Springfield, MA she most recently resided at Brownstone Gardens in East Longmeadow, MA for the past 20+ years. Florence was the daughter of Michael Panetta and Catherine Panetta (nee Raschilla), as well as the sister of Joseph Panetta and Frank Panetta, all of whom predeceased her. She attended Springfield schools throughout her youth, and married Frank Rondinelli Sr. in 1952. She and Frank went on to raise a family in Springfield and had four children: Peter, Michael, Frank Jr., and Anthony. Florence was predeceased by her husband in 1980, as well as by her son Peter in 2002 and her son Frank Jr. in 2025.

Throughout her long life, Florence was first and foremost a devout Christian and loving wife & mother to her four boys. A lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield, MA, Florence enjoyed many things in life, especially game shows, classic movies, and going out for breakfast with her family. A meticulous homemaker and legendary cook, she could often be found in the kitchen, especially early on Sunday mornings before church making her signature spaghetti sauce, in addition to countless other Italian specialties throughout the week, such as her homemade meatballs, delicious pasta fagioli, and the best lasagna you’ve ever tasted. Florence loved to cook for her family & friends, all while listening to her favorite Italian records by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, and her all-time favorite, Jerry Vale. A talented vocalist in her own right, Florence grew up around music and would sing as her father and brothers, all musicians, would play various songs of the day. She later went on to sing with the East Longmeadow Choir, sharing her passion with her many friends throughout the area.

Florence’s memory will live on through all of those who knew and loved her, as well as those who have cared for her over the past few years. She leaves behind her loving son Michael and daughter-in-law Ann-Marie of East Longmeadow, her loving son Anthony and daughter-in-law Kerry, granddaughter Alyssa and grandson Christopher of Feeding Hills, her daughter-in-law Kathy and husband Bob of Feeding Hills, a son-in-law, and several other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Care One Redstone in East Longmeadow, MA for their care of Florence since she was admitted there in 2024, as well as the many doctors & nurses who oversaw her treatment during this time. At her own request, no public funeral services will be held, and burial will be private. A Mass of Remembrance for Florence will be celebrated on Friday, August 21st at 12:10 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William Street, Springfield MA 01105. All who knew and loved Florence are welcome to attend.
