Obituary
Evelyn E. (Gonyea) Amsden, 84, died peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield to the late Leo and Lyla (Griswold) Gonyea, she has lived in East Longmeadow most of her life. Evelyn was devoted to her entire family and enjoyed gardening, the beach, music, dancing, family get-togethers and going to the casino with her brothers and sister. Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Merrill “Pete” Amsden in 2009. She is survived by her children: David Amsden and Richard Amsden and his wife Cindy, all of Hampden, Steven Amsden and his wife Wendy and Cathy Walker, all of East Longmeadow, her brother David Gonyea of East Longmeadow, 10 cherished grandchildren: Kerry, Jennifer, Sherry, Mary, David (D.J.), Christopher, Jeffrey, Michael, Christopher and Jason, five adored great grandchildren: Alexander, Cindy, Jayne, David Jr. and Rylee as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Evelyn was also predeceased by her brothers: Robert, Raymond and Leo Gonyea and her sister Lorraine Pomeroy. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 AM in Greenlawn Cemetery. The arrangements are under the care of Wilbraham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
