Ethel E. (Johnson) Doten

A resident of Springfield since 1955 and Wilbraham since 2012, Ethel Elizabeth (Johnson) Doten died May 28, 2016 at the age of 98. The daughter of John E. and Selma E. (Ostrand) Johnson, she was born in Waltham, MA on August 21, 1917. She was the widow of Harry W. Doten, Sr. A graduate of Waltham High School, Ethel worked for the M D Water Supply Commission on the Quabbin Reservoir project and later she was employed at Employer�s Liability Assurance Corporation, both in Boston. Ethel was a member of Foster Memorial Church and a former member of the First Lutheran Church of Waltham. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her beloved sons; Harry W. �Buzz� Doten, Jr. and Christopher B. Doten, her parents, sister Evelyn and two brothers; John and Herbert Johnson. Ethel is survived by her two children; William J. Doten and his wife Patricia of West Springfield and Elizabeth D. Mastrangelo and her husband Joseph of Wilbraham, daughter in law Mildred S. Doten of Milton, nine grandchildren and three great grandsons. She also leaves her companion and close friend Charlene Primavera who gave her loving care for four years. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wingate in East Longmeadow for their kindness and compassion during the last weeks of Ethel�s life. A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Plymouth, MA at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
