Obituary
Elizabeth Ann (Oleksak) Sears, 75, died peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2020 at a local nursing home. Born in Holyoke to the late Matthew and Viola (Hurley) Oleksak, Betsy attended Ursuline Academy of Springfield from 1959-1963 and the Chandler School of Business from 1964-1966. She retired from New England Telephone as Supervisor of service representatives after 13 years. Betsy then raised her family in Wilbraham and enjoyed her summers at the beaches of Rhode Island and the lakes of Maine. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church and was a member of the Spiritual Growth Group. She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 42 years Andrew F. Sears, two devoted sons; Andrew F. Sears, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Dobbs Ferry, NY and James H. Sears and his wife Sarah of Wilbraham, her caring sister Ellen McDonough and husband William of South Hadley, three cherished grandchildren; Evelyn, John and Oskar and her McDonough nieces and nephews. The family thanks the kind nursing home staff and hospice team that supported Betsy through a difficult year. A private funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life Service for Betsy will be held at a later date when the number of people invited to attend will not be limited due to Covid restrictions. Arrangements are made through Wilbraham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
