Obituary
Elaine F. DeSanti, 94, died peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the home she shared with her daughter in Hooksett, NH. Born November 9, 1926 in Adams, MA to the late Charles and Helena (Les) Coope, Elaine graduated from Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton, MA as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at Shriners Hospital, Springfield, MA in 1948. She later transferred to Wesson Memorial Hospital’s orthopedic unit, and Baystate Medical Center’s surgical and psychiatric units. After 45 years Elaine retired from nursing in 1993, and then traveled with her husband between homes in Wilbraham, MA and Port St Lucie, FL for many years. She was an avid reader and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Elaine enjoyed the companionship of many four legged family members over the years, more recently Bandit and Scooter. Elaine was a loyal Boston Celtic fan, often foregoing other activities to catch a game on TV.
Elaine was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond J. DeSanti (2010), brother Charles Coope (1990) and son-in-law Christopher Martel (2017). Left to cherish Elaine’s memory are
children; James DeSanti (Cathy) of Inverness, FL, Karen Martel of Hooksett, NH, and Richard DeSanti (Shari) of Hampden, MA, six beloved grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Interment services will be at a later date in the Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield, MA. Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA 01095 is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations in Elaine’s name may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
