Obituary
Edward M. Smith, 98, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland to the late Edward and Margaret (MacGregor) Smith, he served proudly in the US Naval Air Corps during World War II. He worked as owner and salesman of the former A. R. Reid, Inc. of Springfield for most of his career, and was a longtime member of Foster Memorial Church. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Anne (Alexander) Smith, their children: Edward Smith and his wife Karen of Huntington, MA, Roberta Tobin and her husband George “Skip” of Ipswich, MA and Janice Smith of Hebron, NH and four cherished grandchildren: Travis, Leah, Lindsay and Jacob. Ed’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 AM at Foster Memorial Church. A private burial with Military Honors was held in MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foster Memorial Church, 1791 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield, MA 01119.
