Edward R. Mcfarland

Dr. Edward R. McFarland, 73, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Boston to the late Edward J. and Mary E. (Cotter) McFarland, he was a proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned a Bachelor�s Degree from Boston College and DDS from Georgetown University. His well-known private practice was located in Wilbraham for 39 years before his retirement in 2006. A longtime parishioner of St. Cecilia�s Church, after retirement from dental practice, Ed became a trusted employee. An avid sports fan, he had a deep affinity for Boston and Cape Cod and was proud of his Irish heritage. Active in the Wilbraham-Hampden Rotary Club, he was a charter member and past president. Ed was also a past president of the Valley District Dental Society. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Denise (Flynn) McFarland, four sons; Keith and his wife Mary of Sunderland, Scott and his wife Jennifer of Otterberg, Germany, Bryan and his wife Laura of Santa Cruz, CA and Evan and his wife Michelle of Ross, CA, brother Robert Connelly and his wife Nancy of Chestnut Hill, MA and six beloved grandchildren; Fiona, Erin, Claire, Jack, Scarlet and Deklin. Ed was predeceased by his sister Joanne DiBerto. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29th from 4:00 � 8:00pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Ed�s Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
