Edward A. “Pop” Brodecki, 89, was called home to Heaven on August 18, 2024. Born in Southbridge, MA to the late John and Victoria (Czyzewski) Brodecki, he was raised in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and was educated at the former Classical High School, Stockbridge, University of Michigan and Colorado State University. Ed was a proud USMC veteran of the Korean war era, earning 2 service medals. An avid NY Mets and Giants fan, he loved fishing, reading, bird watching and gardening. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife Dolores (Gauthier) Brodecki in 2022, as well as his brothers; John and Richard. He is survived by his step daughter Carrieann DeGray and her husband Ray of Springfield, brothers; Henry Brodecki and his wife Judy of Wilbraham and Robert Brodecki of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to recognize the many years of love and support from Jimmy and Dawn Eaton and their children. They were like family and Ed loved them as such. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends may meet for Ed’s Graveside Service with Military Honors on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00PM at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
