Dorothy Marie (Hayes) Chase

Obituary
Dorothy Marie (Hayes) Chase, known to friends as “Dottie”, 80, died peacefully Tuesday, June 18, 2019, with her family by her side. Born in Meriden, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Russell E. Hayes & Mary E. (McGuire) Hayes. She was a graduate of Pelham High School in Pelham, New York. After earning her degree from SUNY Cortland in Cortland, New York she taught Physical Education at St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, Connecticut.
She married John R. Chase, Sr. in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1966. After moving to Wilbraham, Massachusetts Dorothy worked in real estate for Stearns & Yerrall Realtors and later she opened an Allstate Insurance Agency in Somers, Connecticut. For a time, Dorothy coached youth soccer for the Pioneer Valley Jr. Soccer League. She was a wonderful artist and enjoyed spending many summers @ “The Cottage” on Leetes Island, Guilford, Connecticut with her family.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband John on April 16, 2019. She leaves her dear sister, Eileen A. (Hayes) Busch of Bradenton, Florida, son John R. Chase, Jr., daughter Kimberly H. (Chase) Beaudry and beloved granddaughter Megan E. Beaudry, all of Wilbraham, along with many cousins, nieces & nephews, and Mike.
At Dorothy’s request there will be no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Dorothy’s family would like to thank Baystate Hospice for their guidance & care and special thanks to Nicole & Erica for treating her with such kindness and compassion.
