Longtime Wilbraham resident Dorothy (Dot) Allen, 93, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Orchard Valley of Wilbraham. Born in Worcester to the late William and Susan (Moor) Grady, she worked as a waitress at several local restaurants including Friendly’s and Antonio’s. Dot participated in many activities at the Scantic Valley YMCA and the Wilbraham Senior Center. She enjoyed volunteering at women’s golf tournaments and assisting as a poll worker for many years. She was particularly interested in gardening and visiting the Brimfield Flea Market.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband George Allen, their daughter Linda Gaudette, grandson Kevin Gaudette, and her siblings Richard Grady and June Melden. She will be sadly missed by her son Paul Allen and wife Gail of Hollis, NH, son Stephen Allen of Austin, TX, brother Donald Grady and his wife Elaine, grandchildren Bryan Allen, Gregory Allen, Daniel Allen, and Gary Gaudette, and great grandchildren Maya Allen and Madison Gaudette and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank longtime friends Cindy Forte and Jon Aldrich, as well as her team of caregivers from Team Maureen, for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25th from 11AM – 1PM, concluding with a Prayer Service at 1PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Dorothy’s Committal Service on Monday, February 26th at 9AM at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Hospice and Home Care, 30 Capital Drive, West Springfield, MA 01089.
