Obituary
Donald Thomson Wallace, 76, of Wilbraham passed away on July 22. He was born on March 20, 1946 to the late Mack F. Wallace and Phebe D. Wallace. Donald grew up and attended grade school in Longmeadow, graduated from The Taft School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in economics from Colorado College in 1968, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi.
After college, he returned to Massachusetts to serve in the National Guard and work at Warren Pumps. In the mid seventies, he joined his father in business at The Craftmount Company in Holyoke. He became sole owner in 1992 and remained there until his retirement in 2017.
Donald was active with the Holyoke Rotary Club, the Holyoke Mayor’s Business Advisory Council, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke Board of Directors, and the Grace Union Church Board of Deacons in Wilbraham. He was a lifetime contributing member of the Tunxis Club.
Donald enjoyed sailing, fishing and family, particularly treasuring fishing trips all over the world with his father, sailing with his children, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Susan B. Wallace; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary W. and Eric J. Hedman; a son, Mack B. Wallace; grandchildren, Mack A. Hedman, Else H. Hedman, and Cora K. Hedman; and siblings, John D. Wallace, Sandra W. Irwin, and Mary W. Ellis. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
