Obituary
Longtime Hampden resident Donald B. Ryan, 87, died peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Born in Springfield to the late William and Muriel (Burgess) Ryan, he served his country proudly in the US Air Force. Donald worked as a Dimensional Analyst, retiring from Hamilton Standard after 35 years. He was a member of the Federated Community Church of Hampden and served on their Board of Christian Education for many years. He was a member of the Hampden Bicycle Club and the Hampden Garden Club. He enjoyed cross country skiing and belonged to a wood carving group in town. He also loved trips to Maine and going antiquing at the Brimfield Flea Market. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Nancy (Adams) Ryan of Hampden, two devoted daughters; Kathryn Wikar of Denver, PA and Carrie Keating and her husband Billy of Wilbraham, and four cherished grandchildren; Meghan, Kyle, Gabby and Ryan as well as his grand dog, Sammy. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Donald’s Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by burial in Old Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Federated Community Church of Hampden, 590 Main St., Hampden, MA 01036, the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445.
