Obituary
David Murdoch - A kind and gentle man who had retired from the US Postal Service passed away at Vero Health and Rehab in Wilbraham at the age of 88 on August 22nd, 2020.  He is survived by one nephew.

David Murdoch was born in Springfield, MA on March 19th, 1932 to Scottish-born immigrant parents.  His father was a skilled carpenter and wood worker, having built and maintained many of the Victorian buildings found throughout Springfield.  His mother took wonderful and loving care of him and his younger sister, Margaret Murdoch. David graduated Agawam High School in 1951 and upon graduation, he entered the Merchant Marines to help supply naval vessels during the Korean War.  After returning from the war, David began his committed career in the postal service as a mail handler.  He was celebrated as one of the longest serving postal workers, spanning over five decades of service.

David Murdoch was an avid and eccentric collector of art, antique furniture, and fine rugs.  He enjoyed traveling all over Massachusetts and New England, looking for that one special piece he could call his own.  He filled his home and the lives of those that knew him with art, happiness, and great conversation. He also liked to help those in need by offering a place to stay for those that connected with and respected his interests and personality.  He was the kindest, most honest soul and he will be missed by everyone whose lives he has touched.
