David W. Manning, Dmd

David W. Manning, age 80, died peacefully at home on December 4, 2024. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph F. Manning and Phyllis (Mackenzie) Manning, and his brother Philip Manning.
David graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with honors in 1970. He proudly served two years in the United States Army as a Captain in the Dental Corps at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Upon his discharge, he established a private practice in Ludlow, where he served the community for four decades. He was an active member in several professional organizations, including The Massachusetts Dental Society, The Valley District Dental Society, The American Equilibration Society, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. A lifelong learner, Dave was always seeking to stay current with the innovations in the field. He was a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as an alumnus of the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
Dave’s two greatest passions were dentistry and golf. He would often say “Dentistry is my hobby, and I work at my golf game.” He called the Ludlow Country Club home for 50 years. Dave was an enthusiastic amateur photographer and was designated the unofficial family photographer for countless family celebrations. The memories he captured are displayed in family homes. Dave served his faith community as a member of the Knights of Columbus Saint Cecilia’s Council 10195. He held many officer’s positions including Financial Secretary and Treasurer during his 25 year membership.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gail Manning, his son David Manning and wife Debra of Elmhurst, IL, his daughter Lisa Manning and husband Jacob Buxton of Silver Spring, MD, his brother Joseph Manning and wife Joan of Wellington, FL, his sister Judith Smith and husband Steve of Union Bridge, MD, his sister-in-law Tracey Manning of Columbia, MD, his brother-in-law Stephen St. Pierre and wife Sharon of Brimfield, his sister-in-law Marthe Rossmeisl and husband John of West Springfield, his four cherished grandchildren Samuel and Evelyn Buxton, Graeme and Connor Manning, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 28th at St. Cecilia’s Church at 11:00 AM, with visitation in the church Rotunda from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
