Obituary
David A. Degon Sr., 77 died peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at home with his family by his side. David was born January 24, 1943 in Springfield, MA to the late Melvin and Ella Degon.
He graduated from Springfield Tech High School, class of 1960. He served 8 years in the Army National Guard and was a retired 30-year member of the Springfield Fire Department. He married and leaves his high school sweetheart, Darrell.
David was one of four children. He leaves his brother Neil and his wife Ruth and his death was predeceased by his two sisters, Fay and Claire.
Surviving in addition to his wife Darrell, are his two sons, David A Degon Jr and his wife Penny of Sandwich MA and Darrin P. Degon and his wife Alena of Hampton NH; 4 grandchildren, Darrin, David, Dylan and Brei; and 4 great grandchildren.
David was a devout Catholic and enjoyed occasional visits to the Maronite Monks of Adoration. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and loved spending time with all his family.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 22 Green St., Monson. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
