Obituary

Cynthia M. (Fitzgerald) Crum, 73, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, MA, she grew up in a household that included her grandparents, Dream and Pa, making it a home filled with love and laughter. Cindy was a class of ’71 Graduate from Cathedral High School where she made many long lasting friendships and met the love of her life, Billy. Cindy and Billy made their home in Hampden, Ma where they have resided for nearly 50 years. In her early years Cindy dedicated her time to raising her three sons, being a hockey mom, and enjoyed working evenings in several of the area restaurants. She was a customer favorite with her beautiful smile and glowing personality. Cindy was a very spiritual person filled with faith and love for God. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in Hampden, where she taught CCD for First Communion classes. Cindy also volunteered her time to the Department of Social Services and for Hospice where she had a natural gift for comforting the terminally ill. In her later years, Cindy and Billy enjoyed their winters in North Port, Fl and their summers on Lake Winnesquam, NH. Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, William “Bill” Crum, their three devoted sons; Jeffrey Crum and his wife Kerry Crum of Candia, NH, Matthew Crum and his partner Eliza Kibbe of Stafford Springs, CT, and William Crum Jr. “BJ” and his partner Meghan Hansmeyer of Anchorage, AK. Cindy will also be sadly missed by her mother Margaret Fitzgerald of Springfield, MA, her brother Daniel Fitzgerald and his wife Jill of Hot Springs, AR, her sisters Lisa Chase of Chesterfield, NH and Ann Marie Falconer of Derry, NH, and her loving aunt and godmother Sr. Julie Crane of Holyoke, Ma. Cindy was very proud and always spoke so highly of her many nieces and nephews and was loved so dearly by them. Her cherished dogs Callie and Coco will miss her so much. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Fitzgerald and her brothers in law Bob Falconer and Dave Chase. The loves of Cindy's life were her five grandchildren, Caleb Crum, Cadence “CC” Crum, Sophia Crum, Kiersten Crum and Kaylynn Crum. Her home was a second home to all of them. Cindy spent countless hours playing toys with them, swimming in the pool, riding bikes, boating on the lake and simply enjoying their love.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 5th from 7-9PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Cindy’s Funeral Mass on Monday April 6th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Rd., Hampden. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hampden.
