Longtime Wilbraham resident, Cornelia “Conny” Havican, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, with her family at her side, at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Chicopee to the late Stanley and Agnes (Tupaj) Stachelek and received her Bachelor degree in education from Boston College. Conny’s creativity and style led her to a career as an Interior Designer for many years.
She was also an avid artist and musician; she could often be found at her easel painting or playing her piano. Her love of travel took her and her husband many places; her favorite being the island of Curacao. Conny was a prolific golfer and a member of many Ladies’ Leagues around Western Mass. When she was home, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles with her West Highland Terriers.
In addition to her parents, Conny was also predeceased by her brother James Stachelek. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 60 years Richard “Dick” Havican, their children; Kelly Troupe and her husband Charlie of Lewes, DE and David Havican and his wife Sue of Wilbraham, as well as two cherished grandchildren; Kathleen Pumilia and her husband Seth and Cooper Havican and his wife Valerie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29th from 9 – 11AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Conny’s Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Rd., Hampden. Family and friends may meet for Conny’s Committal Service on Wednesday, October 30th at 10 AM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
