Clarice Ferri Baker, 96, died peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Born in Ludlow, MA to the late Charles and Hectorine (Girouard) Allard, she was a former Wilbraham, MA resident, since 1972. Growing up in Indian Orchard, MA, Clarice graduated from Classical High School in 1944 and was a longtime member and leader of the Hampden County 4-H organization. She was a faithful communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church and was a member of the Women’s Club and Senior Connection there, for many years.
At the young age of 10, Clarice began to explore her talents in designing and creating clothing, and at 16, represented Massachusetts as state champion, in a 4-H National Congress in Chicago. In addition to her impressive flair as a seamstress, Clarice most enjoyed skiing, sailing, and entertaining with family and friends. Her creativity and keen eye for detail inspired her long-time oil painting and home decorating hobbies.
In 1953, Clarice married the love of her life, Dr. John J. “Joe” Ferri, who died suddenly in 1972. She was also predeceased by her second husband, A. Davis Baker in 2002, and daughter-in-law, Maria Ferri in 2000. She will be sadly missed by her four devoted children, John J. “Jay” Ferri Jr. and wife Dianne Dabrowski of Big Lake, AK, Leslie A. Walker and husband Michael of Holden, MA, Mark A. Ferri of Windham, NH and Lynn F. Lavelle and husband Peter of Bolton Landing, NY. Clarice will also be dearly missed by her beloved grandchildren, Brittany Clark and husband Brad, Michael Walker II and wife Corey, Christopher and Jonathan Ferri and her cherished great grandchildren Eliana and Aurora Clark and Jamie Walker.
Clarice’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 22nd at 12Noon at St. Cecilia’s Church followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10-11:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA.
