Claire Loretta Dondley

On February 8, 2023, Claire Loretta Thibeault Hanke Dondley passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Claire was the last surviving sibling of 15. She is survived by her 7 children, four daughters; Robin (Ed) Sunter, Cathleen (Steve) Lortie, Loretta (Ronnie) Mascaro of East Longmeadow and Heidi (Rob) Carter of Springfield and three sons; Robert (Alexis) of Enfield, CT, William (Paul) of Longmeadow, with whom she made her home, and Daniel (Zhanna), 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Glenn Dondley and her ex husband Robert Hanke, her grandson Bryan Sunter, her parents; Phillip and Betsey Thibeault, 10 brothers; Raymond, Roy, Edward, Paul, Robert, Ronald, Norman, Lawrence, Francis and Clifford Thibeault, and 4 sisters; Dorothy Codraro, Geraldine Schlosser, Jeanette Thibeault and Jeanne Thibeault. Claire worked at Abdow’s Restaurant in West Springfield as a carhop on roller skates as a teenager and when her children got a bit older she worked for United Technologies for 20 years. She loved taking her grandchildren for the weekend to spend time going to Look Park, Hampton Beach and playing Dominoes and Aggravation. Claire and her husband Glenn loved to travel and took one whole season traveling Route 66 and the National Parks, visiting every mom and pop museum and restaurant they came across. In the last few years, she lived with her daughter, Lori, and son in law Ronnie until she decided they were cramping her style and got herself her first apartment. She enjoyed visiting family members and spending time playing Bingo with her girlfriends. The last year of her life was spent living with her son Bill and his husband Paul, who took excellent care of her until her passing. Claire’s Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd at 9:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will precede the Service from 8:00 – 9:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home. Claire’s Committal Service will follow at 11:00 AM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
