Christopher Boyer passed away peacefully July 30th with his family by his side.

Born in Springfield on August 19th, 1949, he was the oldest of five children. His parents were Anthony Boyer and Alice (Robert) Boyer.

A resident of Wilbraham his entire life, he graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School. During his high school years he was a star gymnast, excelling in rings and parallel bars. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

His work career was as an industrial mechanic repairing fork lift trucks. He was so outstanding at his job that some clients would only request Chris to repair their trucks. If he wasn’t available, they would wait.

Chris also had a need for speed. He loved drag racing his cars at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY. He raced there for over 15 years winning prize money. He also worked on the side at Red Barn Speed in Ludlow for many years.

His mechanical knowledge gave him the ability to repair just about any car. Other classic car owners would ask him for guidance on how to fix the issues on their car. He enjoyed going to car meets and shows where he met many new friends who also enjoyed classic cars. His cars won several trophies and best of show. His 1964 GTO was his pride and joy. It was purchased and shipped from California. He was so excited when it came off the transport.

He was a lifetime member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Assoc.) and a 30 year member of the Ludlow Elks Club.

He had a great sense of humor, making everyone laugh at his witty remarks. He discovered he loved going on cruises, especially enjoying the martini bar. After the trip he would ask “when are we going again.”

In addition to his parents, Chris was predeceased his two brothers Anthony “Sam” and Scott.

He will be forever cherished and remembered by his life partner of 41 years Helena Kwalpinski; his sister Karen Miarecki and her husband Paul (Chris’ best friend and partner in crime); his sister Cynthia Cochran and her husband Thomas who reside in FL; two nephews Shawn Boyer and Michael Boyer and one niece Heather Cochran.

Calling Hours will be Tuesday August 4th from 4 to 7 at Wilbraham Funeral Home. Funeral is also at the Funeral Home on Wednesday August 5 at 10. There will be a short service prior to the Committal at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
